Many roads lead to Fortress Hohenwerfen

Cruise quickly & comfortably by train to Werfen

Werfen train station has its own ÖBB and S-Bahn train station. There are direct connections to the city of Salzburg and to Bischofshofen. Trains run every half hour between the city of Salzburg and Werfen. The journey takes around 45 minutes. From the train station, a shady footpath leads directly to the adventure castle, which can be reached in around half an hour. Tip: You can also order a shuttle from Werfen train station to Fortress Hohenwerfen. Reserve the shuttle service approx. 1 hour before your arrival by calling +43 664 1266700. Getting to the adventure castle via the highway

Werfen can be reached from all directions via the Tauernautobahn (A 10).

• Comingfrom the north, take the "Pass Lueg" exit and continue on the Salzachtal-Bundesstraße (B159) in a southerly direction. After the village of Tanneck, you will reach Fortress Hohenwerfen, whose parking lot is located directly on the main road.
• Comingfrom the south, leave the highway at the "Pfarrwerfen/Werfen" exit and continue in the direction of Werfen. It is around two kilometers to the Hohenwerfen adventure castle parking lot.
• Please note: A vignette is compulsory for all highways in Austria. If you don't want to buy a vignette, you can reach Fortress Hohenwerfen via the Salzachtal-Bundesstraße (B 159). There is plenty of free parking available for coaches.

Land comfortably at Salzburg Airport to conquer the castle

Salzburg Airport is the closest airport to Hohenwerfen Adventure Castle. It is the second largest airport in Austria and is located directly at the Salzburg-Munich-Vienna-Villach highway intersection. It has excellent scheduled connections to major European cities and perfect links to the hubs of Frankfurt, Vienna, London and Zurich. The Hohenwerfen adventure castle is around 40 kilometers away and can be reached in around 30 minutes by rental car or cab via the Tauern freeway.
